About Moothmaro - India's AI Chat Platform

Moothmaro is an AI chat platform designed and built in India, for Indian users. The idea is simple: most AI chat products today were built English-first by teams outside India, and they treat Hindi and Hinglish as translations rather than first-class languages. The conversations feel stilted. Cultural references don't land. The UI prices in dollars. The payment flows quietly fail on Indian cards.

We wanted something better. Moothmaro is what we built — an AI chat platform where Hindi, Hinglish, and Indian English are first-class, where the pricing is in INR with UPI as the default payment method, and where the AI characters understand Indian cultural context without you having to spell it out.

What you can do on Moothmaro

Chat with AI characters in Hindi, English, or Hinglish — pick a character whose personality and language fit the conversation you want to have.
Practice languages in a low-pressure environment — many users use Moothmaro to keep their Hindi sharp, prep for interviews, or practice presentations.
Co-write fiction with AI characters of your own design — fan-fiction, original screenplays, short stories. The character creator lets you define personality, scenario, and language.
Generate AI images of characters based on your conversations — realistic, anime, or stylised, starting at ₹4 per image.
Adult roleplay (18+) is supported within the Terms of Service, with strict guard-rails on minors, impersonation of real people, and other restricted topics.

The technology behind Moothmaro

We are intentionally transparent about the AI we use. If you are evaluating AI chat platforms seriously, you should know what's under the hood.

Chat: DeepSeek (official API) is our primary chat model, with Novita-hosted models as a fallback. DeepSeek is one of the strongest open-weight chat models of 2026, and it handles Hindi / Hinglish noticeably better than most Western alternatives.
Image generation: Novita-hosted Seedream 4.5 is our primary image model, with ByteDance Ark as a secondary path. Seedream is strong on human faces, anime aesthetics, and cinematic lighting.
Character generation: Google Gemini, used only for the AI-assisted character creation tool — never for chat.
Hosting: AWS Mumbai region (ap-south-1). Your traffic and your data stay in India by default. Postgres on RDS, Redis on ElastiCache, S3 for media, AWS SES for email.
Payments: Razorpay (UPI, cards, net-banking, wallets). All amounts in INR.

If image generation ever fails, your Moothies are refunded automatically and the failure is logged. We don't believe in charging users for things that didn't work.

Our approach to privacy

Privacy on a chat platform matters more than on most other products. People say things to AI characters they wouldn't say anywhere else. The platform has to honour that trust.

Your chats are private to your account (or anonymous session). Other users cannot see them.
We do not sell user data. We do not run ad networks on the site.
Chat data may be used to improve safety and quality of AI replies — see the Privacy Policy for the full disclosure.
You can delete conversations and generated images from your profile at any time.
Standard security: HTTPS everywhere, password hashing, email verification on sensitive actions, age-gated entry.

The audience for Moothmaro is broader than we initially thought. Today we see four kinds of regular users:

The casual chatter — students, young professionals, anyone who wants a low-pressure conversational outlet in Hindi or Hinglish.
The language learner — people practising Hindi for family, exams, interviews, or immigration tests; or English/Hinglish learners working on fluency.
The creative writer — fiction writers, fan-fiction authors, screenwriters using AI characters as collaborators.
The companion seeker — adult users (18+) using AI roleplay for entertainment, companionship, and creative exploration.

Daily chat is free up to a generous quota.
Beyond the quota, chat costs 1 credit per message. Credits come bundled with Moothies packs.
